All of the middle schools have FLL teams and rumors are that the Montclair Co-op may be starting this coming fall. FIRST LEGO League is a wonderful
place to learn both beginning and advanced robotics techniques. One aspect of FLL that is truly special is that the robot operates autonomously for the entire
match. While it can be touched and handled in "base," all of the actions it takes are "on it's own." In order to do this reliably the robot needs to navigate
and adapt very well. Beginners can find managable tasks to complete, completing the entire challenge in time is a challenge for the most experience teams. There is much more engineering
going on here than initially meets the eye. FLL also a Research Project. These projects are expected to be well thought out, researched and presented, but
they are anything but dry, boring, sciency stuff. Teams isolate problems, do research and then present their solutions to judges and the community at large.
It is common for teams to put together skits, interactive demonstrations and other innovative ways of communicating their solutions.
